This mid-19th C. barn is unusual in that it has a clear 25-ft span. The hand-hewn joists holding the hayloft do not have mortise joints. This makes then quite desireable for use as decorative exposed collar ties in new or renovated houses. Hayloft flooring is wide board old growth pine. This wood is hard, has a honey color and wears well. It adds warmth to any room, especially kitchens. |
